Diesel motor generator sizes
| Small | 10–30 kVA – homes, farms, small workshops |
|---|---|
| Medium | 40–150 kVA – commercial sites, builders, pumps |
| Large | 200 kVA and up – mines, factories, standby power |
| Options | Auto start, ATS changeover, extended fuel tanks, trailer mounting |
Choosing the right size
Add up the running load of everything you need to power, then allow for start-up surges from motors and pumps. Running a generator at around 70–80% of its rating is the sweet spot for fuel use and engine life. Send us a list of what you’re running and we’ll do the maths.
Generators for sale for every job
- Standby power for businesses and farms
- Prime power for off-grid homes and remote sites
- Construction and civil works
- Events and temporary power
- Water pumps and irrigation
Standby or prime power?
A standby generator kicks in when the grid goes down and runs for short periods. A prime power generator is your main source of power and runs for long hours, so it needs to be sized and specced for continuous use. Tell us which one you need when you ask about a diesel generator for sale.

Questions we get asked
What size diesel generator for sale do I need?
It depends on what you’re running. Send us a list of equipment and we’ll recommend the right kVA.
Diesel or petrol?
Diesel is better for anything that runs for long hours. It’s more fuel efficient and the engines last longer.
Do you deliver?
Yes, Australia-wide. We’ll include freight in your quote.
