Description
Short on space? A 10 ft shipping container gives you secure, lockable storage on a footprint of about 3m x 2.4m. It fits in a driveway, a backyard or a tight corner of a work site where a 20ft simply won’t go.
Tradies use them as tool stores, schools and sports clubs use them for gear, and plenty of people use them to clear out the garage.

What people use a 10 ft shipping container for
- Backyard and garage overflow
- Tradie tool stores
- School, club and community gear
- Small business stock
- Secure storage at tight sites
Build and condition
New containers are built from Corten steel with marine-grade ply floors, steel cross members and heavy-duty locking bars. The paint is fresh, the doors swing easily and the seals are tight.
We can also help with extras like shelving, whirlybirds, extra doors, roller doors, windows and painting. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll price it up.
Getting your 10 ft shipping container on site
Most containers are delivered on a tilt tray or a side loader. For a tilt tray, plan on firm, level ground with a clear straight run and no low power lines or branches. Larger units may need a side loader, which needs room alongside the truck to set the container down.
Put it on level blocks or sleepers at each corner so the doors open and shut properly and the floor stays off the dirt.
Choosing between sizes
A 10ft is great for tight spaces, a 20ft is the most popular all-rounder, and a 40ft gives you double the floor space for not much more money. High cube containers add an extra 30cm of height, and side opening containers give you full-length access. If you’re weighing up a 10 ft shipping container against another size, think about what you’ll store, how you’ll load it, and how much room the truck has to get in.
Still unsure? Tell us what you’re storing and where it’s going, and we’ll suggest the right container. Browse all shipping containers for sale.

Questions we get asked
Is the 10 ft shipping container wind and water tight?
Yes. Every unit we sell is wind and water tight with working doors. New units are one-trip boxes in excellent condition.
Do I need council approval for a shipping container?
It depends on your council and how long it stays. Temporary storage on rural land often needs nothing, but in town and for permanent use it’s worth a quick call to your local council first.
Can you deliver to regional areas?
Yes, we deliver Australia-wide. Send us your postcode and a few details about site access and we’ll quote the freight.
Can I see the container before I buy?
Of course. You’re welcome to inspect stock at our depots by appointment, or we can send photos.
